Small business spotlight—enhancing guest experiences at the Tucson Auto Museum

The Tucson Auto Museum improved guests experiences with an easy to use, affordable digital signage solution including Ablesign and the Amazon Signage Stick.

The Tucson Auto Museum exhibits a collection of over 80 classic, exotic, and one-of-a-kind vehicles. The museum recently moved to a beautiful new 28K sq. ft. facility, making it one of Tucson's must-see attractions.

Dave Johnson, the museum's director, was looking for new ways to enhance the customer experience and leveraged digital signage as a way to help keep visitors apprised of the latest events and exhibits. "Digital signage helped us create dynamic and up-to-date displays that improved our guests' experience, but our original implementation was time-intensive to support." The initial setup involved creating content using PowerPoint and then loading the content onto a USB drive that was then inserted into displays. This made updating the content difficult. "We have a small staff, so it's important to make sure we spend time engaging with visitors and improving our exhibits. We don't have time to perform a lot of IT support – we needed our digital signage to be much simpler to manage and maintain."

The solution: affordable, simple digital signage to transform museum guest experiences

The Tucson Auto Museum selected the Amazon Signage Stick as an affordable, easy-to-use media player and coupled it with Ablesign's Content Management System (CMS) to transform their digital signage implementation. According to Johnson, "We chose the Amazon Signage Stick because it was an affordable solution that delivered 4K video. But mostly, we selected it because it was really easy to install and maintain." The Amazon Signage Stick seamlessly integrated with Ablesign CMS, allowing the museum's team to create, manage, schedule, and distribute content to the museum's screens. Ablesign's CMS is free to use for up to 1GB of content, with another 100GB available as content needs expand – well within the scope of the museum's needs. "Combining the Amazon Signage Stick and Ablesign has been a game changer for a small business like ours. They've allowed us to cost-effectively improve our customer experience while, at the same time, decreasing the time spent managing our digital signage."

What's next for digital signage at the Tucson Auto Museum

With the success of the implementation, Johnson is looking at other ways the museum can leverage digital signage. "The affordability of the Amazon Signage Stick and Ablesign solution makes it easier for us to extend digital signage into new areas. We are looking at ways to improve the guest experience in our retail shop and in our new event space – where we host private events such as corporate meetings and weddings. We may also use it to enhance the informational displays on the car exhibits themselves. It's a really great solution for many different things we want to do."
