How Splashway is Streamlining Success with Amazon Digital Signage and Juuno CMS

Splashway, a premier family-owned water park and campground, transformed their sprawling property-wide display network by migrating from costly legacy hardware to the Amazon Signage Stick and Juuno CMS.

Splashway, located in the heart of Texas between Houston, San Antonio, and Austin, is more than just a water park. As a family-owned destination featuring a full-scale campground, fishing ponds, pickleball courts, water sports and more, the business differentiates itself through exceptional guest service. To maintain that high standard, Splashway relies on a robust digital communication network that guides guests through their stay—from the first splash at the wave pool to lunch or dinner at the restaurant.

 TheCatalyst for Digital Signage Change

Since 2017, Splashway has utilized digital signage to manage its evolving amenities. However, as their digital aspirations expanded, their legacy system became a financial and operational burden. With a network of 40 screens spread across multiple eateries and gift shops, the overhead was becoming unsustainable.

"The previous solution became prohibitively expensive," says Kris Green, who manages the park's digital infrastructure. With high Content Management System(CMS) monthly fees, plus the rising cost of media player hardware and support, the signage budget was under constant scrutiny during annual reviews. Splashway needed a professional-grade solution that offered better ROI without sacrificing the guest experience.

The Challenge: Digital Signage Hardware Inconsistency and High Overhead

Before adopting the Amazon Signage Stick, Splashway’s hardware landscape was a "patchwork" of devices. The team juggled everything from Chrome sticks and Raspberry Pi units to various 4K players depending on what their previous supplier supported.

This inconsistency created a support nightmare:

  • Obsolescence: Older devices frequently became unsupported, requiring expensive hardware refreshes.
  • Configuration Fatigue: Setting up new screens was a repetitive, manual chore.
  • Support costs: Media players were regularly disconnecting from Wi-Fi, causing support issues.
  • Budget Friction: The high monthly CMS recurring costs made it difficult to justify expanding the network to new areas of the park.

The Seamless Digital Signage Solution: Amazon Signage Stick and Juuno CMS

The breakthrough came when Splashway paired Juuno CMS software with the Amazon Signage Stick. The transition addressed the park's two biggest hurdles: cost and deployment speed. With Juuno, Splashway was able to deliver sophisticated capabilities through an affordable, simple to implement solution. Juuno’s support team also made the transition easy and helps keep things running smoothly. Leveraging the Amazon Signage mobile app, Green was able to provision each stick individually (or in bulk) via Bluetooth, significantly reducing setup time.

Key benefits of the new integration include:
  • Simplified Provisioning: "The ability to save Wi-Fi profiles eliminated repetitive configuration steps," Green noted, making the rollout across the property seamless.
  • Mobile Control: Managing 30–40 screens and media players—ranging from static restaurant menus to high-traffic marketing displays—is now handled through the mobile app, enabling remote trouble shooting and support.
  • Hardware Reliability: Despite the demanding outdoor and high-moisture environments, the deployment proceeded smoothly, with the Amazon hardware proving easy to manage.

 Measurable Impact from Digital Signage

By moving away from an expensive legacy provider to a cloud-based professional network, Splashway has optimized its operations:

  • CMS Cost Efficiency: Massive reduction in monthly fees compared to the previous $25/screen per month model.
  • Operational Agility: Faster deployment of menu changes at food service locations and marketing promotions in retail areas through Juuno’s easy to     use interface and the affordability of the overall solution.
  • Scalability: The lower price point and ease of installation have turned signage from a "budget target" into a growth opportunity.

“When the setup is this straight forward and the cost-benefit analysis is this clear, it opens the door for us to be much more creative with how we use digital signage for marketing and enhancing guest experiences.” — Kris Green, Splashway

Looking Ahead: Expanding the Guest Experience

Witha reliable foundation now in place, Splashway is looking to push the boundaries of their digital footprint. Having a cost-effective and reliable solution gives the team flexibility to evaluate expanding digital signage to other areas suchas the 70 guest cabanas or even real-time wait-time displays at slide locations.

Splashway’s migration proves that high-end guest service doesn't require a "high-end" price tag. By pairing the right software-hardware synergy, they’ve moved from a fragmented legacy system to a streamlined, professional network that is ready to grow as fast as the park does.
